Outside of our child care we hope to build relationships with you, the parent, to make you feel as comfortable and confident that we will be here for your child.

Hello
In the past we were referred to babysitters as childcare providers, we are now “Early
Learning Teachers” either way we have never been baby-sitters.
We have put together an early learning program center with children from 6 weeks to
6 years old. We are licensed by DCYF-Department of Children, Youth and Families,
which was changed from DCYF- Department of Early Learning.
In todays world, Day Cares/Child Cares/Early Learning Programs are businesses, we
have laws that we have to adhere to. As early learning providers we are teachers,
book-keepers, nurses, cooks, friends to parents and so much more. Our Director, Co-
Director and teachers have had hours and hours of special training to learn about the
developmental stages of children. Some even taking ongoing college classes. Some
centers participate in professional organizations that train and encourage providers.
Some belong to organizations governed by the city, and the state. As this is a business,
income taxes are paid every year on wages.
All Early Learning Providers when first starting are require to take a 30 hour classes in
ECE (Early Childcare Education), then we take ten hours every year after. We are all
screened for (TB) tuberculosis along with this we take training in CPR, First Aid, HIV
awareness classes.
There are mandatory classes that we all take for DCYF free of charge “Safe Sleep, Abuse
and Neglect, Cavity Free Kids, Immunization, Disaster Emergency Preparedness,
Families Experiencing Homelessness, Medication Management, and Abusive Head
Trauma. All of these records are on file with the state.
Early Learning Program spaces are set up in specific areas we have chosen to use a
house in Kent instead of a building for our center.
There will be lots of age-appropriate toys available for interaction with children of all
ages. Children learn by playing, so we play with lots of different toys inside and outside.
Early Learning Program has set hours and the state mandates the number/ratio of
children that can be here at any one time. Since every family has certain days and hours
that work best for them, even if it is on a drop-in basis, we are as flexible as we can be
within those hours.
Thank you for choosing Learn & Play Early Learning Center and entrusting all of us here
your most precious gift – your child.
